IN PERFECT HARMONY
Bobbi Carrey & Will McMillan
with Doug Hammer on piano

The Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA) has invited Bobbi Carrey and Will McMillan to headline their new Sunday night performance series in Framingham at the Amazing Things Art Center. They’ll perform songs from their latest show, IN PERFECT HARMONY, which recently debuted to a sold out crowd at Sculler’s Jazz Club.

IN PERFECT HARMONY is about musical partnerships – not only the ten-year collaboration between Bobbi Carrey, Will McMillan and Doug Hammer, but also some of the great musical teams, including Rodgers & Hammerstein, Mercer & Arlen, Comden & Green, Jones & Schmidt, and Maltby & Shire.

Why did Johnny Mercer, who worked with over 100 different composers, pick Harold Arlen as his favorite collaborator?

Why did Rodgers end his long collaboration with Larry Hart and start over with Oscar Hammerstein?

Which musical collaborators won the most Academy Award nominations for best song in a motion picture?

Bobbi Carrey & Will McMillan dig deep into their extensive repertoire to share luscious harmonies from songs – including “Blue Moon,” “If I Loved You,” “Try to Remember,” and “Moon River” – written by both well-known and lesser-known musical partners.

THE ENVELOPE PLEASE
Bobbi Carrey & Will McMillan
with Doug Hammer on piano

Vocalists Bobbi Carrey and Will McMillan return to the FOUR CORNERS ARTS CENTER with THE ENVELOPE PLEASE. The Academy Awards are not only a part of America’s history, they are also a mirror of the times. Beginning in 1934, a new category was added – Best Song From a Motion Picture – and for the next seven decades, Oscar winners and nominees for best song have reflected the pulse of America.

The list of best song winners and nominees includes most of the leading songwriters of the 20th century – Irving Berlin, Sammy Cahn, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Henry Mancini, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael and Randy Newman, to name a few.

Join Bobbi Carrey & Will McMillan for a history and appreciation of Academy Award nominees and winners during its first 75 years. Any history that includes both “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah,” “You've Got A Friend In Me,” and “Falling Slowly” is bound to be colorful.

BETWEEN THE WARS Music from 1918 to 1941
Bobbi Carrey with Doug Hammer on piano

In the 20+ years between the world wars, American pop music responded to the events of the times. This show rides the roller coaster that was American life, from the post war highs of the frenzied 20’s to the lows of the Depression, and back up the long hill to recovery and ultimately WW II.

Join us as we follow the evolution of pop music from the “square” rhythms and jangling player pianos of 1918 to the hot Charleston rhythms of the 20s and on into the “Golden Years” of the 30s where we discover swing and follow it to the smooth powerful sound of the early 40s.

Listen to songs by such writers as Irving Berlin, Harry Warren, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin and Johnny Mercer. Remember a time when the “greats” like Sophie Tucker, Al Jolson, Fats Waller, Rudy Vallee, and Bing Crosby thrilled America with their unique talents and contributions to the “Great American Songbook.”

Through songs such as “After You’ve Gone,” “Ain’t Misbehavin,” “P.S. I Love you,” and “I’ll Be Seeing You” this show explores American life and culture “between the wars.”
