About nowandthen Productions

Through her company, nowandthen Productions, Bobbi Carrey offers cabaret performances combining social history with popular American song. Her shows range from The Evolution of American Pop Music, to Irving Berlin: The Voice of Everyman, to Mostly Mercer. Currently she is recording a CD called ONE SONG AT A TIME, which has evolved from a project begun during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. She also co-produced and sang on THE NICK PAGE SONGBOOK CD, as well as performing as a guest vocalist on many other recordings.

About Bobbi Carrey

Bobbi Carrey’s musical experience ranges from folk singing to summer stock, from Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes to soloist with the Mystic Chorale, from Christmas Revels to a women’s vocal trio called ’The Mood Elevators.’ She has performed throughout the United States including multiple appearances at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston, and gigs at the Sorenson Center for the Arts at Tufts University, the Center for Arts in Natick, the Whistler House Museum of Art, The College Club of Boston, Longy School of Music, WGBH Radio The Jazz Songbook, and at many private parties and events.

Bobbi Carrey graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in Romance Languages and from Harvard with a Masters in Visual Studies. The arts degree led to a career as a successful photographer and to teaching appointments at Harvard, University of Iowa, and the University of Michigan. Her photography was widely circulated and exhibited.

Making a sharp detour, Bobbi got an MBA and embarked on a career in finance. She spent 10 years with Fidelity Investments where she was a SVP responsible for evaluating venture capital investments, launching new businesses, and planning and implementing Fidelity’s first ethnic marketing initiative. But after leaving Fidelity, it’s been all music, all the time.

And though she still keeps an eye on business, Carrey says that performing is the life for her. “I have been singing since I was old enough to climb on the tabletop and get an audience. Everything else I have studied and worked at,’ she said. ‘Singing just comes naturally. I feel I was born with it.”THE CAMBRIDGE CHRONICLE
